The Ten Gods (十神)
The Ten Gods translate raw elements into real-life meaning — wealth, authority, creativity, support, and rivalry — by measuring how every character relates to your Day Master.
What Are the Ten Gods?
Elements on their own are abstract. The Ten Gods (十神, Shi Shen) turn them into life themes. Each Heavenly Stem and hidden stem in your chart is compared to your Day Master in two ways — which of the five relationships it has (same, produced-by-me, controlled-by-me, controls-me, produces-me) and whether the polarity matches or differs. Five relationships × two polarities = ten gods.

What Each God Means
Companions — Friend (比肩) & Rob Wealth (劫財)
The same element as you. Friend brings allies, independence, and self-confidence. Rob Wealth brings competition and boldness, and can scatter money if unchecked. For a weak Day Master, companions are welcome support; for a strong one, they add pressure.
Output — Eating God (食神) & Hurting Officer (傷官)
What you produce: talent and self-expression. Eating God is gentle, enjoyable creativity and a love of life's pleasures. Hurting Officer is brilliant, performative, and rule-breaking — dazzling but prone to clashing with authority.
Wealth — Direct Wealth (正財) & Indirect Wealth (偏財)
What you control. Direct Wealth is steady, earned income and a faithful partner (for men, often the wife star). Indirect Wealth is windfall, business, and opportunity — bigger upside, more volatility.
Officer — Direct Officer (正官) & Seven Killings (七殺)
What controls you. Direct Officer is legitimate authority, reputation, and discipline (for women, often the husband star). Seven Killings is raw power, drive, and challenge — formidable when tamed, harsh when not.
Resource — Direct Resource (正印) & Indirect Resource (偏印)
What produces you. Direct Resource is nurturing support, education, and the mother star — protection and learning. Indirect Resource is unconventional knowledge, intuition, and specialized skill.
No god is purely "good" or "bad." A Seven Killings can mean a tyrant or a fearless leader; Direct Wealth can mean stability or stagnation. The verdict depends on whether the god is a favorable element for your particular Day Master — which is exactly what a full reading determines.
